The Medal of Honor is the highest military decoration awarded by the United States government. It is bestowed on members of the United States armed forces who distinguish themselves "conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States." Due to the nature of its criteria, the medal is often awarded posthumously.

Members of all branches of the U.S. military are eligible to receive the medal, and each service has a unique design with the exception of the Marine Corps and Coast Guard, which both use the Navys medal. The Medal of Honor is often presented personally to the recipient or, in the case of posthumous awards, to next of kin, by the President of the United States. Due to its honored status, the medal is afforded special protection under U.S. law.
As the award citation includes the phrase "in the name of Congress", it is sometimes erroneously called the Congressional Medal of Honor, however the official title is the Medal of Honor.

Now with "US Medal of Honor" application you will able to browse the information about 3,500+ Medals of Honor awarded to the nations soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and coast guardsmen since the decorations creation in 1861.

Search recipients by name, rank, year and place of action, see their details and citation.

Enjoy!

Pros and cons of US Medal of Honor app for iPhone and iPad

US Medal of Honor app good for

Thank you for the official citations and please keep up the good work.
Great ap for searching heros. Some are missing but no other ap available is this good.
Very user friendly and informative. Would like to see more photos other than that its great. A must for any military buff.

Some bad moments

Thought I was getting something worthwhile. Turns out to be a vague and incomplete listing of MOH recipients. Should stick with Wikipedia or Google. At least theyre free.
Disappointed with this app. I expected a lot more information on our Nations highest honor for combat bravery. I fully concur with the latest reviewers comments. Lastly, this app is missing the last 2 recent living honorees: SFC Leroy Petry and Cpl Dakota Meyer. At least theyre on Wikipedia.
App works fine until you want to actually read about the recepients. Crashes!
